Why Growers Must Demand Raw Data

This year at Ag in Motion, the biologicals and biostimulants space was buzzing. We had great discussions with growers who are ready to incorporate biological solutions but are also, rightfully, skeptical about what works and what doesn't.
If you’re considering investing in any new non-traditional input, you must ask the tough questions. As Dr. Jeff Schoenau of the University of Saskatchewan wisely put it: you should be asking, "What kind of evidence do you have for the performance of this?"
Separate the Hype from the Proven Science
The first step for any grower is to know exactly what you’re buying. Biologicals and biostimulants are often lumped together, but the difference is critical, especially when it comes to performance consistency.
Biostimulants are substances (like hormones, humic acids, or microbial by-products) that help plants uptake nutrients or tolerate stress better. They don't contain live microbes and aim to enhance a plant's performance.
Biologicals are living organisms, typically bacteria or fungi, that actively interact with the soil or plant to support growth. They are designed to fundamentally shift what’s happening in the soil, such as fixing nitrogen from the atmosphere or solubilizing tied-up phosphorus. Because they are living, they can be more susceptible to environmental factors, which is why our unique culturing process and on-farm brewing network are non-negotiable for success.
Demand the Raw Data
Because biologicals are living systems, performance can be variable. That's why it's essential to look past testimonials and shiny brochures and demand raw, third-party verified data.
At AdvancedAg, we openly share our results because we stand behind our science. Case in point: our recent Ag in Motion wheat trial. We didn't just meet the performance of the full-fertilizer check; we exceeded it.
The trial demonstrated that by utilizing the AdvancedAg biological program, wheat yielded 64 bu/ac—exceeding the 61 bu/ac of the full-fertilizer check plot—all while requiring 30% less synthetic fertilizer input.
Data like this proves that our microbes are function-focused and highly active in the field, even under stress. When evaluating any biological product, ask for the full research history, the soil sampling methods used, and the raw yield results, not just the success stories.
The AdvancedAg Difference: Customization and Knowledge
Joshua Day Chief, our CEO, emphasizes that "every farm is unique." That is why we don't just sell products; we sell the knowledge and customized application program that ensures success on your farm.
The current product suite, including our seed dressing A*LIVE Seed and the liquid biofertilizer ACF-SR, are all CFIA-registered and designed to work within your existing fertility plan, not replace it entirely. They make your inputs more efficient, leading to higher ROI from the very first year.
If you are considering how to reduce your input costs by 10%, 20%, or even 30% next season, the data is clear: biology works. But it only works if you demand proof and partner with a company that backs its claims with transparent, verifiable results.
We invite you to reach out, share your soil reports, and let us show you how our function-focused microbes can deliver results on your farm.
